Directions: Open a Word document (or a Google doc) and type your answers in there.


1. Read a psychologist's report that discusses how the death of a sibling can affect an adolescent. Death of a sibling In 3-4 sentences, make connections to Holden. Use TE from both the report and the novel.



2. Research basic facts about leukemia. Type 7 bullet point facts. What kind of death was this? In other words, what would Holden witness at the end of Allie's life? Why would dying from leukemia be especially difficult?

Now, pretend do be Holden and write your own 12 line poem entitled "Allie's Mitt."



4. Use Google to research the Peter Pan Syndrome or Peter Pan Complex. Visit three credible sites (wikipedia can be one of them). From each site, list three important characteristics of this "syndrome" for a total of nine different characteristics. Nine bullet points are fine. Make sure you cut and paste the sites URL in case I want to visit them myself.



5. Make meaningful connections between the Peter Pan Syndrome and Holden. Write 4-6 sentences. Use TE after chapter 7.



6. Holden's last name is Caulfield. Look up the word "Caul." In 3-4 sentences explain why Salinger may have picked this last name for Holden. Why is it fitting last name for him?



7. Holden's first name has "hold" in it. What do you think Holden is hold-ing on to? Why won't he let go? Write 4-5 sentences and use TE after chapter 7.
